FAQs
Which decaf is closest to a regular blend I already like?
If you like Espresso Paladino, Decaf Espresso Paladino is built to match it closely — same medium roast, same house profile, without the caffeine.
What's the difference between your decaf options?
Decaf Espresso Paladino is medium roast with orange peel and brown sugar notes. Decaf Tangletown is also medium roast, with sweet cocoa, caramel, and a touch of citrus. Decaf Cuatro is a lighter-bodied medium roast that works well any time of day. Decaf Hidden City is our dark roast decaf, with molasses, pecan, and caramel notes.
Can I drink your decaf at night without worrying about caffeine?
Yes — Decaf Hidden City, our dark roast option, is specifically suited to evening drinking, and all our decaf goes through the same decaffeination process, so caffeine content stays minimal across the lineup.
How is your decaf actually decaffeinated?
We use a natural, sugar-cane-based process: beans are soaked in a solution (Ethyl Acetate) derived from fermented sugar cane, which dissolves the caffeine, then washed and dried. It's gentler than some solvent-based methods, which helps retain flavor and sweetness.
Does decaf taste noticeably different from regular coffee?
Because of the process we use, our decaf keeps most of its original flavor rather than tasting flat — Decaf Espresso Paladino, for example, is designed to taste close to its caffeinated counterpart.
Which decaf should I get if I want something rich and full-bodied?
Decaf Hidden City, our dark roast option, offers the most body, with molasses, pecan, and caramel notes.
Which decaf is best for someone who wants a lighter, easy-drinking cup?
Decaf Cuatro is our lightest-bodied option in the lineup, with sweet notes that work well any time of day.
Is your decaf good for espresso, or only drip?
Decaf Espresso Paladino was built specifically as our house decaf espresso and has been since 1997, though it also works well as drip.
Which decaf is your best seller, and why?
Decaf Espresso Paladino — it's been our house decaf espresso since day one, and customers often point to it as the closest thing to full-flavor regular coffee in decaf form.
Can I subscribe to decaf the same way I would a blend?
Yes — decaf options are included under the Blends Subscription, so you can set up recurring delivery of Decaf Paladino, Decaf Tangletown, Decaf Cuatro, or Decaf Hidden City just like any caffeinated blend.
